Raja is an ambitious career politician. He started in politics in 2000, then was appointed by powerful politicians to multiple Illinois government positions, and is now in his 8th campaign for public office. [3]
Raja led the charge to shut down the government and withhold pay from our troops and law enforcement in order to gain "political leverage." [4]
Raja has actively increased the cost-of-living for working families:
Raja voted repeatedly to massively increase government spending, exploding the deficit and creating the inflation crisis. Now, in his Senate campaign, he is proposing an economic plan estimated to cost over $2 trillion over the next 10 years, which will further increase inflation.
Raja has refused to support efforts to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs, risking funding in programs like Medicaid and SNAP for those who need it most.
Raja is one of the most ineffective members of Congress, passing only four bills in his decade in the House of Representatives. Those four bills were each to rename a post office. [5]
While claiming to be bipartisan, Raja voted with President Joe Biden 100% of the time.
Raja is from Cook County, as are all other statewide elected officials with Dick Durbin retiring. If Raja gets elected, the other 101 counties in Illinois will not have representation.
